Unfortunately, I am disappointed in a couple of what might seem minor issues but to me they are simple oversights by the designers.

What's up with NON-USA designed cars not having the autostart on the Key FOB. Of course this refers to the almost $60,000 Genesis G80

Picture this: I'm leaving work, it's dark, my car is at the end of the lot, I'd like to start it remotely so the lights turn on and guide my way and make me feel safe. What!!!!! I have to dig out my phone, try to logon on to the Genesis site in the dark and finally activate the auto start which
fires up the car when I am about 2 inches away from it!!!!

It must have been a moron who figured out this set-up would work and it seems to be prevelant on cars designed outside the U.S.

I'd love to hear from the Genesis world what they think of this debacle......:

I agree that a more traditional system would have been far more practical, but a lot of automakers are moving towards phone/app related functions. On a side note I now that Genesis Canada now sells a remote starter for the 2018 G80 Sport. Pressing the lock and panic button 3 times enables it. I don't believe they got Bluelink.

Believe it or not but I'm seeing a lot of newer cars with key fob remote starts that wont work below certain temperatures. I don't know if this is just a result of inadequate testing or if there are some limitations with that hardware.

subscription services are the wave of the future for car manufacturers, many of them are going to this 4GLTE connected app based service for remote start and other common features.

some like Lexus have both the fob remote start and the app, but only if you subscribe to the app, if you cancel their enform service the fob remote start also stops working.

some like GM have it on the remote, and give you the option of using the app, however GM is moving toward the app only service as well, select 2019 and upcoming 2020 models no longer have remote start on the fob as a standard feature, it is a $700 dealer add-on feature, otherwise Onstar app based remote start only.

Genesis seems to have jumped the gun and moved away from a fob based Remote start, also disappointing is not having the ability to open the windows via the remote like I could in my Lexus, Acura, and BMW.

I don't think it is cost saving so much as maintained an income stream via subscribed services.

and who the **** pays $60K for a G80, my fully loaded G80 Sport was $53,980 OUT THE DOOR brand new last June.
