Hey guys,

New to the forum and just wanted to say hello. I'm currently driving a genesis bk1 coupe and I've long been contemplating the switch to the sedan. I'm been driving Hyundai's for the past 10 years and I see no reason to switch. So I've come here to learn what you guys think about this model and if it's the right fit.

Welcome.

Glad to see you're still interested in Genesis because with all the luxury car maker around these days and how aggressive they have become, its easy to go elsewhere. Seen a lot of Genesis owners move over to lower segment low trim BMW and Mercedes products. Are you only interested in a Genesis product?

Well obviously I'm looking forward to the bump in luxury styling and standard tech options. It's great to see a new alternative from the established luxury brands such as Mercedes and BMW. It also really looks like its going to deliver on performance, which it failed to do in its last generation. From what I've seen, this new model is capable of doing 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

I think you're looking at this incorrectly if you think its a BMW or Mercedes alternative because even with all the changes Hyundai and Genesis have making they are a far way out. Truth is they will always be a budget brand, no escaping it. Unless you can prove otherwise.

I mean its still early on in their life cycle, so I'm not expecting them to be on par with the established brands. And the new Genesis models have been receiving a bunch of design awards, so its obvious the Hyundai is starting to receive more recognition than just being a "budget" brand. Mercedes and BMW have been making luxury cars for decades, so of course the Genesis currently sits below them. There is no denying that Hyundai's quality and styling have improved drastically in recent years.
