Sun Roof Creaks & Rattles

I took delivery of a G80 Sport in January and have noticed that the sun roof creaks and rattles over rough pavement. I was wondering if anybody else has experienced a similar problem with their G80.

My 2017 G80 ultimate has body creaking sounds from passenger side door / dash area. After trouble shooting and consulting with Genesis tech support, they are replacing the entire sunroof assembly next week to hopefully remedy the problem... It is a single unit and something like $3000 for the whole assembly!
My G80 Ultimate is now a year old and is rattle free so far.

Hello MRICH1353. Hopefully this issue is an isolated problem. My dealer tells me they can resolve it. Let me know how yours turns out. I was told repairs could take up to 3 weeks. Good luck on your repairs.
Early on they lubricated the tracks and quite down the noise. It only recently went to the full body flexing sound. Hopefully this will be the fix.
Hi I just purchased a 2017 G80 H-Track premium package. It was a trade in with 16 k on it. The guy wanted the 3.3 Sport at least that is what the dealer told me. It is a fantastic automobile however I also have the creaky panoramic roof. It seems to do it when the body flexes. I guess my question is that it is covered under the bumper to bumper or will the dealership give me the run around? Thanks for any guidance you can give me in advance

Car was tied up almost a week, but new roof fixed the problem. This was the first replacement by local dealer, but they have another scheduled after mine.

Should be, but they will have to assess and confirm it is the appropriate work. The warranty cost is over $3000; I bet the company that manufactures the roofs is taking the hit.
Well to be fair these kinds of problems shouldn't be found in a "premium" vehicle. Can't believe it requires a whole new roof to fix the issue. If it becomes prevalent enough, hopefully Genesis will issue a recall for it.
I got an email from the head service person asking me how I was enjoying my recent purchase. I let them know I was generally pleased however inquired about the creaky roof. They informed me that they are aware of it and set up a day/time and are dropping off loaner and picking my G80 tomorrow. Also there is

Well I liked the valet service. Picked up at 10:00 AM Returned 3:30 PM. I was told that you can expect the pano roofs to make noise, However the loaner car (2018 G80 premium) roof did not make a sound. I inquired about that and was told that 2018 Pano Roof has a design change to eliminate the creaking. So isn't the service rep saying there is a problem? They also couldn't complete the Re-call on map/nav update. So nothing completed today except for excelling Valet service which will eventually disappear
Well its good to hear that Genesis is making improvements to their customer service. Will go a long way in establishing themselves as a premium brand. So are they really replacing the whole roof to fix the noise? At least its been resolved in new models, though you'd think from their awareness about the problem that they would issue a recall for it.

They replaced my entire roof; I suspect the roof manufacturer is picking up most of cost. I made a difference to quite car and make it seem more solid. I am a few weeks since replacement and almost think I am hearing some creaking again.

Mine was back at dealer again today for replacement of front parking sensor. Their comments lead me to believe this is a recall item. I commented that the 2018 G80 (AWD 5.0) loaner had the same front sensor issue, adviser said they must not have done recall on that one (three week back order from when car was last in).

I am now 1 year of ownership and just over 20,000 miles. Car has been into dealer 8 different times which included 22 days (panoramic sunroof, rocking drivers seat, airbag sensor, parking sensor). The warranty items tied up vehicle for 18 of these days. I've not even bothered asking about the frequent error alert during rain or snow on the emergency braking system. I have regularly received surveys from Genesis and have yet to hear a word back despite their survey asking if they can contact me. My dealer has been excellent even though they are not getting a Genesis franchise. As of today, their G80 inventory appears to be gone (had 10 vehicles, only two or three remaining are vehicles used as loaners or demo with miles. My last four BMW's combined had less warranty issues and time in the shop of this vehicle in one year.

Yeah I don't think that Genesis will be getting many more of its own franchises, I just don't think its cost effective. I cant believe you've already had so many visits to the dealer in such a short period of time. I've owned much older and cheaper Hyundai models and never saw anything like the issues you're having. Sure does seem like they take their time to complete your warranty work.
I started this thread on 2/16/18. I'm sorry to hear that so many seem to be having noise problems with the panoramic roof. My G80 Sport had less than 1000 miles when it went into the service dept. The issue was resolved within a week when my dealer decided to replace my car with a brand new one.

If you're able to share you build product date that might help the rest of us figure out which batches might be better than others.

I understand that there is some kind of Hyundai service directory/advisory that addresses the creaking/rattling sunroof problem. Does anyone know what it is called or how to get a copy of it? Thanks
I have heard that some owners have seen results from having the rubber seals replaced under warranty. It has also been suggested that you have the sunroof track cleaned and lubricated. Cant find an official TSB anywhere.
