Nav System freezes

I've had my 2017 G80 3.8 Ultimate for a year now. Bought fresh off a lease w 39k miles. Love the car. Just recently the Nav system freezes after a while. I noticed it when the MPH icon on the heads up display wasn't changing with the posted speed limits. Pushed the Map/voice button on the dash....nothing. When I stop, turn the car off then on it works but only for a few minutes. sometimes it works normally. Has anyone had this problem?

My 2018 G80 is having the same issue. Dealer had it for two weeks said it was fixed...not so, doing the same thing. The car is still under factory warranty and Genesis is telling me they don't know what to do. Very frustrating
Glad I’m not the only one. That’s my next step is to take it to the dealer. hopefully it’s a software glitch. Thanks for the feed back
My 2018 G80 is doing the same thing. It was “locked up” a few weeks ago and I was able to get it to the dealer while it was “locked up”. They did some diagnostics and found nothing. They say it’s a SiriusXM problem and Sirius says it’s a Genesis problem.

My 2019 G80 Sport navigation system display after 2 years of proper operation now freezes up after about 30-45 minutes of operation. It has been in the shop twice for this problem and the tech says Genesis has no fix for the problem. They claim it is a Sirrus radio antenna problem but offer no solution.
Best I can tell, it is not an antenna problem. In fact, it’s most likely not a mechanical equipment problem. Back in January, XM sent protocol update for their Infotainment (traffic, gas prices, movie times, stocks, etc) that the Genesis DESI/Navigation system did not like. Some people are getting the problem fixed by cancelling the XM Travel Link service. I “chatted” with XM yesterday and they would not cancel my Travel Link. Instead, they sent a worthless reset to my radio. Still no fix.
Is this problem more widespread then I thought? Sounds like Genesis would be flooded with service requests to address the problem if a XM protocol didn't interface with DESI system properly. I have XM (without the travel link service) on my phone that I play though the blue tooth function in the car. So I'm not sure how that protocol would effect the NAV system. In my case it be an antenna issue. We'll see what happens when I take it to the Dealer

Last month i bought a 2017 G80 5.0. After a few days I noticed that the channels would not change 5-10 minutes after the car was started. I realized that if I turned the car off and restarted, it seemed to reboot the radio. I could change channels again. Then later, I noticed that the NAV system also froze after a few minutes.
I have tried the reset button - many times. But having to reset the radio every time you decide you want to listen to something different (or see where you going on the NAV) really gets OLD!
I have tried downloading the NAV update available from Genesis, but only get a message that "it is coming soo, Check back late." This has been going on for a couple of weeks. Not sure if there ever will be an update?!
I had a G80 3.8 for 4 yrs before this one. Never had a problem! Now, I wish I had just kept the old car!
Amazing that Genesis isn't taking care of their loyal customers better than this?!

The Dealer called me today to pick up our 2019 Genesis 18 that has been at the dealer for weeks due to the SGPS freezing problem. We refuse to take it back almost a month ago due to this problem and they promised a new signal would be sent out in a week or two. I got a call today that they think it is working OK. But I want to verify if anybody else has gotten a new signal that is supposed to fix this problem.. I have filed a claim under the lemon law because it is was six months old and we’ve had other problems as well. Anybody have an update?
this is a known issue. They said it was the latest travel link update that caused it - but I had mine disabled and the volume control froze today. the plot thickens.

Has a fix been found?

About a month ago, I was finally able to get the Genesis site to download the software update to a memory card (SD). Supposedly, there is a spring and fall update? It took more than an hour for the system to update after inserting the new card. But... it worked! Prefect now! Works like a charm!
It is definitely NOT an antenna or XM problem. Lazy and stupid service techs!
Hope this helps.

I have had the exact same issues with my Genesis 2019 G80 3.3twin Turbo. I have bought the car in 2021around Sept. Everything worked fine with 4,774miles on it! Took the car to Florida in the last two weeks while I was down there I noticed the same issues you said with the mileage not reducing even though I was driving over 10miles. Also at the same time I was using the mapping GPS and it was froze up. When I tried to change the radio station I could not! Everything was froze. I call XM and refreshed the signal and got no change. I then went to a Genesis dealership and the service Manger showed me how to reset the heads screen. It did work for a little while until I got back to my residence I was staying 20miles away. Then it happened all over again. I noticed I could shut off engine and back on and it would work for a short time and freeze again. I have a friend that listened to what I said was going on and he was looking at the heads display and realized that I have pushed the lock button on the radio inadvertently! He did release the lock button and believe it or not all the malfunctions started to work properly. It still works two weeks later. No more problems with it freezing. It was a simple as that. If the heads display is freezing up check the lock button on the radio for changing stations. Good luck!
