We've been seeing spy shots of the newly redesigned G80 for awhile now, but Motor Authority just posted up a new video that shows it track testing. Might be the first time we've heard the exhaust note and I think it sounds pretty good. I'm seeing a fair bit of influence in this car from the Essentia concept, which is a huge departure from their normal styling.

I'm glad that Genesis has decided to give the car a full redesign rather than a refresh/update. It does seem like they are moving towards a new design language for future models, so who knows what we will see with future versions of the G70 and their upcoming SUV.

I can tell you guys right now that tires will be a concern unless Genesis has plans to build a hot version that comes with optional high performance summer tires or high performance all seasons.
IMO its the best thing to do for us, Genesis needs some extra competitive edge.

Genesis boss has mentioned a few times that there are currently no plans for any performance trims of their new models. Hyundai is expanding upon their new N variants fairly quickly though and I've already seen some teasers for the upcoming Tuscon version.

If Genesis were to get a performance trim, it should be a standalone and not shared with their Hyundai models. They need to give more distinction their luxury marque and sharing things between them isn't helping with brand recognition.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were some aftermarket tuning chips to up performance numbers a bit for Genesis models. More than likely they'll show up on the G70 first, as the Stinger already has a fair amount of modding support.

My dream is for some tuning companies to offer full tuning packages where we buy a brand new G70/G80/G90 right from them instead of the dealer.

That will really only work if they are supported by the Genesis factory warranty, or provide similar coverage themselves. We are seeing more automakers offering tuning packages directly from the dealer level such as Yenko and Corvette.
