Notice from Genesis that cellular G3 service will cease end of 2022. Meaning, the Genesis Supported Services in my 2017 G80 are ending. No mention of upgrade for newer service was mentioned. When someone knows more I'd appreciate a posting. Thanks from STL.

I called the Genesis owner number and they said I would only be impacted if the phone associated with the car was a G3 phone (in other words an older model). I don’t believe that is correct from what I read but it is what they told me.

Currently, AT&T will close their G3 system beginning in February. Verizon is closing end of December and other providers at unspecific dates this year. Verizon provides the service to my G80 for the "Genesis Supported Services" IN the vehicle. I will be working with a dealer soon to determine whether an upgrade system to G4 (or G5) will be offered. Am NOT trading the car!

The wireless service provider for your Genesis Connected Service device will discontinue the 3G network service on December 31, 2022. Since your vehicle requires a 3G cellular network to connect, this change will affect your services. Genesis does not or will not have an alternative option or an upgrade available. The possibility of this occurring is in the Terms and Conditions for Genesis Connected Services and the discontinuation of the network is outside of Genesis’s control. We apologize for any frustrations this may cause, we know this is not an ideal situation.

For additional information, including options to continue your services for the remainder of the year or cancellation requests, please call us at (844) 340-9741, option 2, so we may assist you further.

Key words I noted; "Genesis does not or will not have an alternative option or an upgrade available." In short, my 2017 G80 systems no longer have interest. I intend to contact the 844# in days ahead and will convey observations on this page. Also, my paid subscriptions are through February, 2023. Two months x 3 subs will need to be refunded, ehh?

Interest from a friend owning an Audi (2018) with similar situation... Audi intends to update (replace) the G3 system in his vehicle. Whether it will be G4 or G5 is yet to be known. Soooo.... vehicle manufacturers DO have interest in what could affect the user. Stay tuned... I'm going to press Genesis about upgrading. Check your vehicle. You might want to be in this discussion too.

If you've PAID for any of the three online support services, be aware the "services" will END 12/31/2022 according to the email message from Genesis. You should be entitled to a refund for any payment for service(s) beyond that date, in my opinion. I'm in that facet.

Check on consumer Reports where Genesis reports that we will be unable to connect to connected services and that our vehicles may not be updated to support other wireless technologies. Sounds like Class Action Time!!!!
