Before beginning, for those that don't know what the Amazon Alexa skill is, it's pretty much a feature that allows you to talk to "Alexa" to have it do certain functions such as start/stop the car, lock the doors, activate lights, etc. For example, you can say something like "Alexa, tell Genesis to start my car at 70 degrees" and your wish shall be granted.

Many car manufacturers such as BMW are preparing their cars to be compatible, but the Genesis has reached the line first ! The G90 as well as the G80 will be compatible with Alexa.

Unfortunately, we as prospective G80 owners will need to buy our own Alexa-enabled devices to communicate through.

The owner also needs to have an Alexa-enabled device like the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Amazon Tap to use the feature. Fortunately for new G90 buyers, Genesis will provide an Amazon Gift Card that can be used to get an Amazon Echo. However, G80 buyers won't get this bonus, so they and existing Genesis will need to provide their own Alexa-enabled device through other means.

I'd just save the money and operate the G80 with a key fob, just call me old school. Understandable that Genesis is setting itself up as a premium brand by partnering up with companies like amazon to provide us with more services, but most of the time they seem pointless to me.

It would be cool if we can unlock our cars using NFC but requiring authorization with a finger print scanner on our phones. Since most of us are on our phones that will make it super convenient. I rather do that over all the other options to unlock.
