Agree. Please keep us advised. Even if I get it fixed I'll never buy another Hyundai vehicle.

Periodically the ac just stops blowing out of vents. The air is still blowing in dash. Its as if a flap in the duct work closes. Then eventually it starts working again. They changed the blower when I told them that was not the problem of coarse.Any help please reply its still under warranty.
Service manager told me it is the Thermister freezing up and needs to be replaced. Said its a common issue? awaiting part and repair.

Hi All - Thank you for all of the posts in this thread. I actually printed this out and gave this to Hyundai Dealer. I said...look at this. This is what is happening to me exactly. They determined that the freon was actually filled up too much. They took some out, so that it is at the recommended level. I have been on two long trips since....and no issues.

The evap temp sensor was replaced and did not fix problem, as it happened while driving home from the dealer repair after 20 mins. I will now try the freon reduction as mentioned above. It seems nobody cares at genesis to communicate this problem to tech teams.

My 2018 G80 is doing the exact same thing. I took it to the dealer and they could find nothing wrong, but it quit again today on a long trip and now I'm 5 hours from home with no air conditioner.

My 2018 Genesis G80 with less than 17,000 miles is doing the same thing. I have taken it to the dealer twice in two different states as it only happens on long trips. They completely drained my Freon, refilled and checked for leak. They could not find anything.
I don’t understand why Genesis won’t deal with this.

Count me in as well.
After 36 months lease, with only 17k miles, I purchased the car in August.
Nothing but problems since.
After a Navigation "upgrade" on the day I purchased the car, the Bluetooth system became barely usable.
Filed complaint and was assigned case manager who approved a new head unit after dealing with an obstructive, incompetent
and confrontational service dept.
Thankfully successful resolved.
So took car on a 3500 mile trip.

Now experiencing the same AC problem.
Half way between Phoenix and LA, on the hot desert!
Been to two dealerships, 2days at first, they witnessed the problem on day 1, had no technician, scheduled appointment next day.
We were there for 4 hours. Couldn't duplicate problem.
Now at second dealership, gave us a loaner vehicle, could not duplicate problem in 2 days, they offered to drive car throughout the weekend to hopefully duplicate.
Fretting drive back home 1600 miles through desert and Texas rains without AC of defogger!

Dealership called Hyundai tech support and was told this is how the evaporate sensor should work! Such BS! The agent at the dealership even couldn't believe how ridiculous that is! I could understand the AC timing out, but the fan also becoming dysfunctional?
Never had a problem in 3 years!
Has anyone found the solution?
This is my second G80 and have Never had this problem.
I'm a loyal Hyundai customer, 2 Genesis. 2 Sonota, 3 Santa Fe. Just leased a new Calligraphy Santa fe for my wife, and local service dept. Is so incompetent.

Add another G80 A/C problem. Dealer doesn't have a clue! Mine is the second G80 to have these same issues. Both 2018. I haven't heard of any other year G80's had this issue. Why can't Genesis determine what is different in the2018 model? I've contacted Genesis in Stanford three times. NO REPLY! There should be a recall. Maybe a class action suit is in order.

I own a 2019 G80 3.3T with 27K miles on it. The a/c crapped out as described in July 2021 on a trip from NJ to SC, where I have now moved. My Genesis Complaint with the National Customer Service crew is 18494456. Hannah is the agent that is ignoring the fact that I sent her three videos of the failure when I moved to SC in September. She was also supposed to arrange for a national service tech to inspect the car in August, before I moved, to look at the vehicle. Of course, he did not show. When I was at the dealership in August (in NJ) I saw that another customer had a repair ticket with the same complaint. I took a picture of it in case Genesis denies other complaints. The new dealer that is doing a 27K service in a week will look at it but won't be able to recreate it since they don't take it on a longer trip with high temp/humidity. Hannah is supposed to have a national tech look at the vehicle in Charlotte next week. Bet he doesn't show. I have sent Hannah links to this forum since she tells me, when the few times that she responds to me, that Genesis does not recognize this as a lemon law problem because the dealers cannot recreate the problem. Has anyone else had this same experience with Genesis National? Has anyone tried to contact the COO or new CEO?

I was also promised a call from a service tech in Sanford, FL, the American Headquarters for Genesis. Over a month and no response. I started contacting various service managers across the country and found several who had some success correcting the issue by draining the a/c system and refilling it. Could be Genesis received a contaminated shipment of refrigerant at the assembly plant. I'm having this done at my local dealer and will advise.

Gentlemen,
I know your frustration!
Recently had the evaporator coil sensor replaced, approved by Genesis engineers.
Haven't had an opportunity to take the car on a long drive, and weather has gotten colder.
Not optimistic that the problem will be solved.
However, at the advice of engineering,
Keep climate control on AUTO, and fan to FRESH AIR.
As per Genesis, the system will otherwise freeze up, and designed to redirect air flow to evaporator coil to defrost.

2019 G-80. 20,000 miles. Same A/C problem. Seems to freeze up after 2-3 hours of run time. Unable to duplicate for service tech. Has happened 4 times. Taking it back in tomorrow. Will see if they have an answer. Love the car other than this.
