Some spy shots of the updated G80 have recently been posted online. Seats looks pretty luxurious and I like the door panel design. This should be their first true Genesis design as the previous gen models were still sold under the Hyundai brand.

Looks like what you would expect from any luxury brand. Cant tell what the materials are on the door panels, but I hope its not scratchy plastics.
Fairly typical for the segment, but that should help it to stay on par with other brands. There is plenty of space in the rear for passengers and I think I see independent climate controls.
I like the white interior but hope to see some other color options as well. Front seats have some heavy bolstering, which I hope hasn't resulted in a forced seating position.
I was impressed with the exterior but the door panels are a let down.

Compare it to a Sonata or similar vehicle and you'll ask yourself if Genesis picked from the parts bin.
Of course they have. How else are they supposed to beat rivals on price? You don't think BMW or MB shares parts between their base and M/AMG models?
Being one of the cheapest areas to improve on I though Genesis could of done better.
These cases more often than not fall back on who the designer was than anything related to cost.
Its hard to get a sense of the material quality from these pictures, so we'll need to wait on first hand impressions. I'm surprised to see so many speakers placed in the doors, but it looks like they are using them as a design piece. Lets hope that they have done adequate sound proofing/insulation to prevent rattles and creaks.
Had a chance to see the G70 in person for myself and didn't like the steering wheel or dash which is on main part of the cabin I hope this G80 addresses.
Since its looking like a full on redesign rather than a refresh, that should bring plenty of design changes. I don't see anything wrong with the dash in the outgoing model, especially with that nice wood finish. I do agree that the steering wheel would benefit from some chrome/wood accenting, because the flat black comes off a bit plain.

Sadly that won't ever happen, the only thing that should happen are for owners of current models to sell as soon as they get the chance otherwise they'll be in for even more depreciation.
Leasing is the way to go with these models imo, at least until we get some long term reviews based on ownership experience. You're going to lose money on any car that's bought in this segment.
I think anyone who doesn't mind sacrificing a bit on cabin volume is better off buying a G70.
The industry loves it along with people coming from BMW, Audi and even Mercedes. It sure says a lot about G70 values going forward.
