Hey everyone. Just wanted to update everyone on this thread for future in case anyone else comes across this issue.
The latch was frozen on the left rear door, meaning, that even though the dealer service team was able to access the cables that control the latch, it still would not open. This meant that they had to break the interior door panel to make the repair. My third part warranty company would not cover the damage to the panel, but did cover the latch.
The door panel itself was around 1200 bucks new +300 bucks in labor to replace.
I was able to ask for "goodwill assistance" from Genesis via a ticket process on their website. It took awhile to get them to say yes, but eventually they did. They were able to cover 50% of the 1500 in expense. So that helped.
If i were strapped for cash, i probably would have just located a used panel online at some point (around 2-300), but in this case it ended up costing about 650-700
